Create Birthday Invitations Yourself

Do you have a child that has very firm ideas of what they want? If you answered yes to this I give you my support because I know that you need it. I have been blessed with three healthy wonderful children. My first two are easy going and quite easy to please. My youngest likes to have things her way or no way. She has been like this since the day she began to walk. She is not unpleasant to be around, but she can be challenging.

My youngest daughter has many friends. She does have great taste in clothing, decorating and also choosing personalities that compliment hers. She has a core of close friends and also group of friends that she has made from being involved in various activities. When she was younger we used to have birthday parties. Planning her birthday party was usually an ordeal because she would have a set theme in her head and she was not opened to looking at alternatives. She wanted to create birthday invitations to match her party theme. This was prior to software programs that allowed for creative ways to create birthday invitations that look professional. There were times when I would spend more time drawing, coloring and glittering her invitations than I would spend on getting the food prepared. She was always grateful for the efforts that were put in and she would pitch in and help also. These parties were held from when she was in kindergarten through sixth grade. I was glad to find out that it is not cool to have a birthday party once you are in junior high.

When she was sixteen one of her closest friends called me at work and told me that my daughter had been talking about missing the birthday parties that she used to have as a kid. Her seventeenth birthday was coming up and the friend offered to help me plan the party. She knows my daughter very well so I agreed to do this. My daughter loves flowers of any kind. We decided we would do a surprise flower garden party. The friend offered to create birthday invitations and send them out. She also invited my daughter over to her house the day before the party. The plan was for the two of them to go shopping the day of the party and then be back at our house at the party time. I went to the farmers market and bought great bunches of flowers, my neighbors also arranged bouquets from their gardens. We used green plants and the flowers to create an area in our dining room that looked like a tropical paradise. My daughter loved the room and also being surprised by the party. I knew we had done well when she told me that she could not have planned it better herself.
