Flowers Of The Months

I have written this article to tell you that there are lots of different angles from which flowers of the months can be studied, which we will review carefully, so that you may get the most from it and learn more about custom invitations too.

Each birthday month has a governing zodiac sign and symbolic gemstone. Flowers of the months also denote birthdays and have historical and cultural meanings. Choosing such flowers as gifts show a great deal of thought has gone into the gesture. It’s also a guide as to what is in season.

The year begins with two January flowers. Carnations represent love, affection and admiration. Green varieties are given on St. Patrick’s Day. The other flower for the first month is the snowdrop, a hopeful sight for the spring to come. February brings the iris, standing for friendship, faith and hope and also the violet. One of the delights of March is the daffodil that pops through and brightens the gray after winter. They symbolize respect, faithfulness and modesty. Flowers of the months for April are the humble daisy, denoting good luck and pleasure, and the wonderfully scented sweet pea.

What we have explored up to now is the most important information you need to know. Now, lets dig a little deeper.

Warmer weather in May brings the lily, for purity, sweetness and meekness. Love and beauty are naturally represented by the rose in June. Different shades symbolize different qualities. The Larkspur is the flower for July, standing for laughter and relaxation. This bloom was used to keep witches at bay in Transylvania. August is the month for gladiolus and poppy. Gladiators adopted the gladiolus, representing strong character and the poppy is associated with remembering the war dead.

The fall and September brings the aster flower for love, faith and wisdom and the morning glory, which represents vibrancy and awareness. The aster is also a traditional flower of mourning for soldiers. October flowers of the months are the marigold, symbolizing affection and the cosmos, which stands for peace and modesty. There are chocolate cosmos flowers that really do have a chocolate scent. The chrysanthemum is the flower for November, meaning optimism, cheerfulness and wealth. Some people drink Chrysanthemum Tea in Asia.

Finally, December brings the poinsettia and narcissus. The poinsettia stands for celebration, success and good cheer. It is aptly known as the Christmas Star and is a popular decoration in homes at the festive season. Narcissus represents self-admiration, sweetness and egotism. The Greek myth is well known and tells of Narcissus who falls in love with his reflection in the stream. He stays there and turns into a flower. The flowers of the months don’t have to be strictly adhered to. They are fun to learn about and may shed light on some of the birth month traditions.

It is small things, such as this, that may aid you in your search for information about flowers of the months. So, take a moment and decide which road would be optimal for you to take.

Come Up With Unique Presents For Kids

With each passing day technology and electronics are become more advanced. The newest item that is purchased will be out dated in six months to a year. New technology bought today may go down in price as much as fifty percent in weeks. There are so many wonderful inventions that come out of the minds of people. We must remember this as we raise our children. It is out of their ability to imagine that future inventions and medical devices and cures will come. We need to keep them interested and encourage them to use their imaginations.

As an educator I have seen many changes in the children that come through my classroom. I have been in the classroom for twenty seven years. When I started the rules were simple, discipline was feared, kids were curious and manners were good. Today rules and regulations are repeated like a litany, discipline is questioned by the student and their parent and kids are more into MTV and cell phones and ipods to concentrate on their studies. Many parents still care about their children and their education, but they are often too busy to be there for there child. Each year I have a number of parents that will ask me for ideas for presents for kids. In a way this is flattering that they would value my opinion and realize that there are presents for kids that can help their education. In a way this is also quite sad that I know some of these kids better than their parents do.

Usually when I am asked about ideas for presents for children I suggest different board games that the child has to play with others. I think board games are a great way for families to spend time together where there is a joint focus and not a great deal of pressure to talk. For younger students I will suggest any type of present that will stir their imagination. I love going to the discovery store or any toy store that have presents for kids that will have them thinking and doing and learning in a way that they are having fun at the same time. Especially students that may have had a difficult experience in the classroom, if they can find something that is interesting to them and that they can achieve at it may spur their overall interest in learning. There are science kits that can be purchased, but my preference is to tell parents to buy books of homemade experiments. There are several on the market that help kids create all sorts of fun things using regular household ingredients.

Presents For Dad Are Not Easy Find

There have been many times through the years of parenting my children that I was positive that I was doing the wrong thing. There is a great deal of advice on what to do and not do when raising children. There are not many formal classes to take to prepare for being a parent. For every book or article that is written giving one piece of advice there is another written given the opposite information. My husband and I talked with each other a great deal and tried to use common sense that aligned with our values as we raised our children.

Our children are now grown and are starting families of their own. When I see how level headed and successful there are I realize that we did a good job in raising them. Last week both kids came and asked me about getting presents for dad for his birthday. My husband has many interests, but this was a milestone birthday year so the kids wanted to make sure that this year the presents for dad would be something that he would enjoy. I told them that I had been at the jewelry store to pick up my ring and I had noticed that they had a line of father’s rings. I had never seen them before. I thought it was a nice idea, after all mother’s rings have been available for years. Their dad wears his wedding band, I was not sure that he would wear a second ring, but I told them they may find other father type gift ideas at the jewelry store. They both thought that it would be worth a trip. When they left I reflected how neat it is that they are such good friends.

I had decided to do a birthday party for my husband. I was busy getting things ready and had not talked to the kids about what they had decided on as presents for dad. On the night of the party we had several friends, our siblings and of course our children and grandchildren. We had lots of food and birthday cake. At the beginning of the evening my son had asked where to put the presents for dad. He helped direct people to the presents table and also mixed drinks. It was great to have him helping so that my husband was free to enjoy the party and not worry about being the host. When he opened his gift from the children he was touched. They had bought him a tie bar that had their birthstones in between mine and his. It was very attractive, since his birthday he wears it every day to work.
